The bio and / or herbal sauna is the mild alternative to the classical sauna and has now become popular not only among sauna beginners. What makes this low-temperature sauna special is that it has the same health-promoting properties as the classic version, but it puts less strain on the body. Instead of 80 to 100 degrees (Finnish sauna), a bio sauna has lower temperatures of 45 to 75 degrees. To make the body still sweat, the humidity is higher and is between 40 and 55 percent. Due to the mild temperatures, in bio saunas it is not common to pour water on stones. Instead, fragrant herbs release valuable essential oils that have a soothing effect on body and soul. In addition, this soft sauna is also suitable for people who suffer from respiratory or circulatory problems or who cannot tolerate the heat of a Finnish sauna. To achieve an additional therapeutic effect beside the effects of herbal active agents, you can use aroma, light or sound during a stay in the bio sauna.

Procedure and temperature in a bio-herbal sauna
SIn both, the classic sauna and the bio sauna, you usually complete several sessions – usually two to three. In the bio-sauna, too, there should be a thermal alternation between mild sweating that is gentle on the circulation, cooling down after the sauna session and resting phases. For cooling down we recommend our snowfall shower SnowBliss or our multi-sensory showers. This change between hot and cold exerts a strong stimulus on the body that boosts metabolism and strengthens the body’s defenses. Regular sauna sessions can therefore have a preventive effect against a cold or an infection. In the bio sauna a stay of up to 20 minutes is possible as there are comparatively low temperatures. Unlike other types of sauna, in this case the circulation is treated with care. In order to achieve a lasting effect, the bio sauna should be used regularly and the resting periods or cooling down periods should always be observed.
Herbal sauna with aroma, light or sound effects
It is not just the wonderful aromatic smell of herbs, they also release valuable essential oils that have a positive effect on the health. That is why we recommend combining the bio sauna with a herbal sauna. The herbs can be used on wooden panels on the wall, hanging from the ceiling or as a decoction in a copper kettle. To achieve a particularly strong effect, you can also add a few drops of essential oil to the herbal decoction or use our wonderfully fragrant Sauna essences. Guests breathe in the wonderful herbal steam and add to their sauna stay an aromatic experience. Another possibility to add applications to the bio sauna is to integrate a light effects. For this purpose, we install special lighting effects that convert every sauna session into a unique experience. Or you offer a sound application with our Kurland Singing Bowl. Unlimited design options for the bio sauna
Each Kurland® sauna is unique! Whether it is made of spruce, hemlock or Swiss Pine, with a tower type seat or traditional sauna benches – there are no limits to your wishes. The seating areas are usually arranged in tiers around the sauna oven. The oven can be installed on the wall, placed under the bench or free-standing, and can be covered with various materials. You get customized saunas that fit perfectly into your overall concept. They are made from domestic wood species, in highest German quality and craftsmanship perfection. Our trained specialists take care of the installation on site and are also there for you afterwards with a professional maintenance and repair service.
